George C., "Pete" Greene

GREENE, George C.,”Pete”, age 80, of Kettering, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2003 at his home. George was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of West Portsmouth High School and attended the University of Cincinnati and Miami University. George served in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the China-Burma-India Theater. He retired as manager of Danly Machine Corporation with 36 years of service. George was an honorary member of the Dayton Tooling & Machining Association, Rome Lodge #535 F & AM, Rabboni Chapter #232, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Antioch Temple and Dayton Lodge #58 B.P.O.E. He was past president of Dayton View-Kittyhawk Optimist Club, past president Exchange Club of Dayton and a member of the Walnut Grove Country Club. He was a sports enthusiast, enjoying all sports especially golf, hunting, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bessie Greene (Miller) and his great grandson, Dennis K. Walton III. George is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Greene; his sister, Alice Perry of London, OH; son and daughter-in-law, Richard (Carole) Greene of Indianapolis, IN; 2 granddaughters, Melissa (Dennis) Walton and Kristina (Vince) Bebko; 3 step-grandchildren, Mike (Beth) Stephens, Lisa (Bob) Owens, and Kim Stephens; 2 great grandchildren; Kayla and Cody Walton; 4 step great grandchildren, Tim and Chris Stephens and Rex and Megan Owens; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 17, at 9:00 AM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, with Rev. Ed Puff officiating. Burial in David’s Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In memory of George, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
