SHEETS, George, age 93, of Dayton (Oakwood) passed away yesterday, March 19, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton. Born in Washington Court House, OH, George was the son of the late Lulu Belle Henkle Young and the late George Lane Sheets. He earned his Chemical Engineering Degree at Ohio State in 1937, then his Masters and Ph.D. at the Institute of Paper Chemistry in Appleton, Wisconsin where he would meet his wife of 59 years, Marge. He joined the research group as a development engineer at Mead in 1941 where he developed a shell coating during World War II and went on to became Director of Research. George's hobbies were many: traveling, photography, woodworking, gemology (jewelry making), and golf. He will be especially missed there. He was also a longtime member of Moraine Country Club in Dayton and served on the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Muenchow Sheets; brother, Phillip Sheets and daughter, Karen Sheets Campbell Stahl.
