George Mahfouz

December 10, 1919 — November 26, 2015

MAHFOUZ, George, age 95, of Kettering, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Kobacker House in Columbus, OH. George was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and retired member of the Oakwood Rotary Club. He served on the Dayton Opera Board of Directors, a volunteer of the Service Corp of Retired Executives (Score) for 16 years and a Trustee of the Mound Museum Association in Miamisburg, OH. George retired from Monsanto Research Corp as Engineering Manager after 39 years of service. In his earlier career, George was an engineer on the Manhattan Project in Decatur, ILL, which was an atomic bomb project. George was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Basil and Takla (Nimey) Mahfouz and his loving wife of 59 years, Lorraine Mahfouz in March of 2006. Survivors include daughters, Barbara (Raymond) Blanton and Jeanne Cousino; and grandchildren, Rachel (Brett) Gearhart, Phillip (Emily) Blanton, David (Jennifer) and Alexandra Cousino; and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am, on Friday, December 11, 2015, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Jack Koepke officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church until 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon Ave., Dayton, OH 45419.
