MARTIN, George Wayne, age 85, of Kettering passed away on June 18, 2011 at The Hospice of Dayton.
George was born on April 24, 1926 to the late Charles R. and Edythe Bell Martin in Cambridge, OH. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII and then graduated from Kent State University where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He retired from civil service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and was a member of the Far Hills Masonic Lodge #784, the Scottish Rite and the Oak Creek United Church of Christ.
Preceded in death by brother, Charles L. Martin. George is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley Martin; son, William (Kay) Martin of Westlake, OH; daughters Barbara (Rob) Humphrey of Columbus, OH, and Laurie (Bob) Morton of Novi, MI; grandchildren, Christine and Kimberly Martin, Stephanie, Stacey and Christopher Humphrey and Andrew, Alex and Austin Morton; sister-in-law, Betty Martin and her children; brothers-in-law Hugh (Betsy) Voress and Arlin (Cary Lou) Voress and their children.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at Oak Creek United Church of Christ, 5280 Bigger Rd., Kettering at 11:00AM with Rev. John Konz officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00AM prior to the service on June 24, 2011.
