KARRAS, Georgia Joanne, died in the loving arms of her mother and father on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. 'Gigi' was surrounded in prayer by her priest, family, and many friends during her last days. Gigi spent most of her short life in the caring arms of nurses and doctors at Children's Medical Center in Dayton and Cincinnati. She was our little soldier of God who has now completed her mission, and has earned her Angel wings. Her smile lit up the entire room, and she stole the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Gigi gave her family and friends the best gifts of all, the never ending kind - like everlasting rays of love that filled our hearts, and she showered us with happiness from the moment she awoke each day, to the moment she closed her eyes for the very last time. Hanging on her crib was the following quote from Isaiah 41:10 ' Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right Hand.' Gigi is now with her grandfather, James Poletes, who precedes her in her death. In addition to her mother and father, she is survived by her loving sisters Elea and Tia, her grandmother, Tammy Poletes, and grandparents, Pete and Lula Karras, and great-grandmother, Angeline Marinos; Her loving godmothers, Jackie and Dessine Kaiser; Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins; Gene, Irene, Michael, and Melanie Dow; Jeffrey, Angela, Demi, Evan, and Peter Blust; Craig, Elaine, Bob, Stacey, and Ted Carson; Mr. Peter Poletes; Dr. George Poletes; Tessy, Anntonia, Nicholas, and Vasiliki Smith. The visitation and funeral services will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North (224-0601), Dayton, Ohio.
