Hock, Gerald A., age 73, of Centerville, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
He graduated from Purcell High School in 1958. He earned an AS in engineering and business administration from Xavier University and a BS from Capital University. He worked for Mead Corp., Montgomery Ward, Stanadyne, and National Cash Register, until he founded his company, GH Packaging and Product Testing and Consulting, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Gerry was active in numerous organizations including Sigma Pi Epsilon Packaging Fraternity, the Purdue Parent's Advisory Board and the S.P.H.E (now IOPP). In an effort to promote package engineering, he taught several packaging and engineering courses at Sinclair Community College in the evenings.
He was a member of the Church of the Incarnation for 35 years. Gerry loved playing and watching baseball, traveling with his wife, family and friends, and playing golf. His fondest memories included boating and waterskiing on Norris Lake with family and friends, watching his grandson, Kevin, play sports, and going to Red's Fantasy Baseball Camp in Sarasota Florida, and numerous trips with his wife, family and friends.
Gerry is now reunited with his loving mother and father, Clement and Bertha Hock, wonderful in-laws Harold and Ellen, sister-in-law Ella Sue, and brother-in-law, Fred Hochman.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 48 years, Myrtle, daughter Lynn Brannon, son-in-law Michael Brannon, son, Perry, grandson, Kevin, brother, Howard Hock, sister in law Juanita Hock, sister-in-law Lois Lee Hochman, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, one great, great niece, several furry companions, and countless friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at the Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Avenue, Centerville. Family will welcome friends at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main Street, Centerville, immediately following Mass.
The family wishes to express loving thanks to the doctors and nurses at Kettering Medical Center and the staff at Heartland of Centerville.
If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to The Lung Cancer Society of America or the ASPCA.
