HELKER, Gerald C., age 89 of Centerville, OH, formerly of Kettering, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2008. Gerald was a member of the National Association of Accountants. Following retirement, he chaired the Budget Communications of the United Way, served as a Board member of St. Joseph's Home for Children, Treasurer of Buckeye Trails Girl Scout Council, and assisted in the Accounting Department of Catholic Social Services. Later he became a volunteer for Bethany Village in various capacities. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald W. and Beatrice (Schommer) Helker; brother, Robert J. Helker and his wife Catherine along with their daughter Patricia. He is survived by his wife Lucille (Korns) Helker; sister, Mary Margaret Dempsey; nieces, Jane E. (Alva L.) Brothers of Kettering, Carolyn (Harry) Wert of Lewisburg, PA and Cynthia Dempsey of Columbus along with many great-nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Incarnation, 55 Williamsburg Lane, Centerville. Family will receive friends one hour prior at the church. Arrangements by Routsong Funeral Home.
