Gisela Aj Donaldson

DONALDSON, Gisela Anna Johanna (nee Gronau), age 79, of West Carrollton, passed away on April 9, 2014. Gisela lived a full life that included passion about her German heritage, her faith, music and nutrition topics. She evolved to have health issues late in life but was thoroughly cared for by her loving husband for many years. She was born March 17, 1935 in Tilsit, East Prussia, Germany (now Russia). She felt a connection to the Germany she grew up in during her youth, and spent hours listening to music from that era, and for many years, a German music radio program on Saturday mornings. She also enjoyed her pet dogs and cats and provided nourishment for visiting backyard wild birds. Gisela was a member and choir member of the New Apostolic Church for 60 years. She immigrated to the United States at age 16 and began school at Patterson Co-Op High School. Following high school, she took employment at NCR where she met her husband, S. Dean Donaldson, and they were married in 1954. The two were married for 60 years. She is survived by her husband and three children, lngrid (Don) McGuire, Grant (Roberta) Donaldson and David (Pam) Donaldson. She had six grandchildren: Brian and Eric Cheatwood, Avery and Adam Donaldson, Rachel and Kyle Donaldson. A visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00pm on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd, Kettering. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the New Apostolic Church, 696 North Fairfield Road, Beavercreek.
