Gladys Joan Gerhardt

GERHARDT, Gladys “Lolly” (Rymarz), age 92, formerly of Milwaukee, WI passed away Wednesday, October 19th, 2011. Gladys was a graduate of East Division High School in Milwaukee, WI in 1937. She was a member of the Taco Bell Lunch Bunch where she regularly enjoyed the camaraderie of friends (Jeanne, Norma, Gwen, Vic, Johnny and Gertrude) and family. Past work included 20+ years at Briggs & Stratton in Milwaukee, WI and various positions in Kettering, OH area. Gladys enjoyed Golfing, Bowling, Bingo, Riverboats, Swimming, Knitting, and cooking (she was a world class cook with countless old world recipes). She enjoyed traveling with friends and family in her mid-life years. Gladys was the daughter of Felix and Frances Rymarz. She met and married Frederick Gerhardt on May 29, 1943. In 1966, Fred and Gladys (with Dennis, Cheryl, Keith and Deanne in tow) moved to Kettering, OH area for a new life. They moved into a new home and built a cement pond for family and friends to enjoy – which they did immensely. Preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Frederick Gerhardt; parents, Felix and Frances Rymarz; siblings, Pete, Mickey, John, Stanley, Angeline, Frank, Helen, and Rose; sister-in-law Marge Schmitt; and brothers-in-law, Frank, Tony, Joe, and John Gerhardt, and Al Quint. Gladys is survived by her son, Dennis Gerhardt; brother, Clarence Rymarz; grandchildren Keith (Cassandra) and Deanne Gerhardt; great-granddaughter, Madison; sister-in-law, Helen Quint; and many other relatives including Pat and Randy Keltner and their children, Mary, Kenny, and Paul. Family will greet friends from 2:00-4:00pm on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, October 24, 2011 also at the funeral home. The family would like to express our thanks for the exceptional care given by Crossroads Hospice.
