NEUFANG, Dr. Gordon Alburn Webb, Jr., Ph. D., age 84, of Kettering, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Gordon was born to the late Rev. Gordon A.W. and Marian (nee Stanton) Neufang, on December 8, 1930 in Niagara Falls, NY.
An Eagle Scout, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's Degree in French, a Master's in German, and a Ph. D. in Comparative Literature. Gordon taught at the University of Michigan and Grinnell College before chairing the Department of Languages and developing the Summer Study Abroad Program for the University of Dayton.
Gordon was a member of the Board of Directors for The Indian Lake Watershed Project and a member of the Community Church in Russell's Point, OH. Gordon loved the water, carving wooden ducks, and sailing at their lake house on Indian Lake.
In addition to his parents, Gordon is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Torrey. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Loraine Neufang; son, Gordon W. (Mary) Neufang; daughters, Katherine Reader and Susan (Tim) Brademeyer; grandchildren, Stephen (Britni) Neufang, David Neufang, Molly (Erik) Anderson, Sarah Loraine (Chris) Picking, John "Jack" Sherman, Andrew Reader, Chris Brademeyer, Carolyn Brademeyer and Rachel Brademeyer; and great-grandchildren, Ellie and Jake.
The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM--2:00 PM on Saturday, May 16th, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH, with a funeral service to follow at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gordon's memory to the Indian Lake Watershed Project.
