Haleema ''Essie'' Shafeek

age 72 of Dayton, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001. She attended Dunbar High School. Preceded in death by her husband, Hameed; 2 sons, Ahmad Shafeek and Munir Shafeek; her parents, Habeeza and Sultina Shafeek; and 4 sisters, Ruth Beall, Barbara Couzens, Helen Shafeek, and Kadijah Ahmad. Survived by 3 daughters, Rabakah Shacklelford and her husband, Harold of Dayton, MarYam Beach Shafik and her husband, Roy of Centerville, and Sultina Peters of Dayton; 2 sons, Hameed Shafeek and his wife, Debbie of Englewood and Ali Shafeek and his wife Shafia of Dayton; and 2 brothers, Norseer ''Roy'' Shafeek and his wife Beriel ''Bea'' of Englewood and Wali Shafeek of Dayton; 21 grandchildren and a devoted granddaughter Samina Beach Shafik and many great grandchildren; Christopher Rogers; a special nephew, Demetris Couzens; and special friend Ya Ya Hashim. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday in the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. The family will greet friends from 5 to 9 P.M., Friday at the funeral home.
