CONKEL, Harold James, age 77 of Washington Township passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Kettering Medical Center. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and the OSU School of Engineering. Harold owned and operated Harold J. Conkel Surveying and Engineering Company and formerly worked for Bowser Morner Testing and the E.J. Koker Company. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Harold was preceded in death by his daughters, Sharon Diane “Sherry” Conkel-Burden in 1997 and Julie Ann Conkel-Palmer in 2000. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Astrid Mae Conkel; daughter, Jo (Bud) Marsteller of Oakwood; son, Jeff Conkel of Florida; sons-in-law, Douglas Burden of Dayton and Greg Palmer of Columbus; granddaughters, Carrie Burden- Tallent of Georgia, Maggie Marsteller of Columbus and Jackie Palmer of Columbus; grandsons, Stephen D. Burden of Dayton, Buddy and his wife Kyle Marsteller of Alabama and Wesley Palmer of Columbus; sister, Joan Alexander of Florida. The family would like to thank the healthcare professionals for all of their love and care over the years. Private services will be held at the family’s convenience.
