HUSSEY, Harold L., age 87 of Carmel, Indiana, and formerly of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on December 5, 2005. He was retired from the IBM Corporation. He was very active in all Masonic bodies; a 33rd degree Mason and an active member of the Supreme Council, a past Executive Secretary for the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, he also belonged to the F & AM Millennium Lodge # 779, and was a member of all York Rite bodies and the Shrine. Harold was a member of South Park United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lois E. Hussey; his parents, Jessie Garfield and Ina King Hussey; and stepmother, Clara Ewell Hussey. He is survived by his son James G. and Ruth Ann Hussey of Fishers, Indiana, two granddaughters, Jennifer and Todd Danielson of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Molly Anne Hussey of Denver Colorado, and great-granddaughter Harper Danielson, and stepsister Martha Shade of Florida. A private graveside service for the family will be held at David's Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to South Park United Methodist Church, 140 Stonemill Rd., Dayton, OH 45409. I11. Harold LaVern Hussey, 33, the son of Jesse Garfield and Ina May (King ) Hussey was born in Dayton, Ohio, on January 19, 1918. He attended Dayton Public Schools, graduating in 1936 from Roosevelt High School. He attended both Sinclair Community College and the University of Dayton.
I11. Brother Hussey was employed by the IBM Corporation from January 1946 until his early retirement on December 31, 1974. During these years, he served in many Administrative, Sales, and Marketing Management positions for the Corporation in New York; Washing, D.C., and Dayton, Ohio. From 1938 through 1941, I11. Brother Hussey was employed by General Motors Corporation in Dayton. From 1942 through December 1945, he was a member of the United States Air Force and advanced to the rank of Master Sergeant. He received an Outstanding Service Award from the United States Air Force.
During his business career, I11. Brother Hussey has served as President of the National Contract Management Association (NCMA), and Chairman of the Aerospace Industry Committee of the Dayton Area Chamber of commerce. He has also served one term as a member of the City Council of the City of Oakwood.
He married the former Lois W. Evans of Dayton on October 13, 1939. They have one son, James Gordon Hussey, who, with his family, resides in Centerville, Ohio. I11. Brother and Mrs. Hussey are members of South Park United Methodist church of Dayton. I11. Brother Hussey has served his church in many official capacities including Chairman of the Administrative Board, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He has also served as Lay Leader of the local church and the Dayton South District of the United Methodist Church, and Chairman of the District Council on Ministries. I11. Brother and Mrs. Hussey reside at 2020 Cortina Drive in Miami Township.
I11. Brother Hussey was raised a Master Mason in Conservancy Lodge No. 661, F.&A.M., in Dayton, Ohio, on June 25, 1942. He was exalted in Tau Chapter No. 239, R.A.M. on December 6, 1957; greeted in Reese Council No. 9, R.&S.M., on March 4, 1978; and knighted in Reed Commandery No. 6, K.T., on April 25, 1978.
He received the Degrees of the Scottish Rite in the Valley of Dayton in November of 1965. He is a former Secretary of the four coordinate bodies of the Valley, and Executive Secretary of the Valley of Dayton, having assumed those duties on January 1, 1977. He was created a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, 33, Honorary Member of the Supreme Council, in Chicago, Illinois, on September 26, 1979. He was crowned an Active Member of the Supreme Council on September 30, 1982, in St. Louis, Missouri.
He had held membership in Antioch Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. since 1980. He is a Past President of the Dayton Downtown Hi-12 Club, No. 331; a member of the Arabic club in Dayton, and Holy Grail Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine. I11. Brother Hussey is a Trustee of the Ohio Masonic Home and a former Secretary of the Ohio Masonic Home Board.
