JARRETT, Harold Meyers, age 93, of Oakwood passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011. After receiving a teaching degree, he was a Sergeant in the United States Army and then received a Masters Degree from Penn State University.
Harold’s first love was teaching. Passionate about learning, he enjoyed challenging his students to reach their highest potential. He taught mathematics at Mont Alto Forestry School, Penn State University; Computer Science at University of Dayton and Sugar Camp at NCR. He was known by many as a trickster who loved playing jokes. Harold was a quietly intelligent man who enjoyed music and sang in choirs all his life. He also enjoyed college football, reading, math puzzles and traveling.
Preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Bertha and brothers Doyle and Boyd Jarrett. Harold is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Evelyn F. Jarrett; daughters, Catherine (Paul) Knoop, Marjorie Williams, and Carolyn (Dale) Badura; sons, Boyd (Karen) Jarrett and Harry (Tina) Jarrett, grandchildren, Monica (Brian) Ellis, Michelle McConnell, Andrew (Elly) Williams who are expecting a little boy named Paul, Christopher (Stacy) Williams, Todd (Megan) Williams, Scott Jarrett, Jason Jarrett, and Jessica Jarrett; great-grandchildren, Natasha, Alexander, Chelsea, Lukas, Ethan, Maggie, Brady, Sophie; brothers, Norman (Jane) Jarrett and Edward Jarrett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Family will greet friends from 2:00PM-4:00PM on Friday, September 23, 2011 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. A memorial service will follow at 4:00PM on September 23, 2011 also at the funeral home. A family committal service will be held at St. Paul’s Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wright Memorial Public Library, 1776 Far Hills Avenue, Oakwood, OH 45419; Crossroads Hospice, 8069 Washington Village Dr., Dayton, OH 45458; or charitable contributions may be made in Harold’s honor to support a forestry student scholarship at Penn State Mont Alto.
