CROOKS, Harry L., age 89, of Centerville, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Dayton VA Hospice Medical Center. Harry was born to the late Harrison and Margaret (Hadden) Crooks on April 20, 1925.
He proudly graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1949 and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Harry served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a 50 year member of Southminster Presbyterian Church, the Ohio Society of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs, and a 50 year Mason of Mystic Lodge # 405. He was a loving husband and father.
Harry is preceded in death by his twin sister, Margaret Cowell and grandson, Richard Brown III. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Vivian; children, Robert Crooks and Diane Brown; granddaughter, Alexa Brown; great-granddaughter, Jocelynn Brown; nephews, Breck (Julie) Cowell and Scott (Brenda) Cowell and many special family and friends.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Heartland Hospice and VA Hospice for all the wonderful care they gave Harry.
Family will greet friends from 1:00pm-2:30pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 pm at the funeral home. Harry will be laid to rest with military honors at Centerville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church, 7001 Far Hills Ave. Dayton, OH 45459.
