Hazel Katherine Townsend

TOWNSEND, Hazel Katherine, age 90 of Kettering, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017. Hazel was born on September 4, 1927 in Harlan County, Kentucky to Otto Lee Scalf and Lillie (Stewart) Scalf, Bogard. Hazel was active at Kettering Assembly of God Church. She was a loving wife and mother, an avid crafter, enjoyed sewing and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 59 years Elza Townsend; sister Sylvia Conner, brother Dean Scalf, niece Joyce (Pitts) Brown and grandson Jason Christopher Townsend. Hazel is survived by her sisters Bertha Pitts and Wanda Wicks. Sister-In-Law Ila Mae Townsend, close friend and cousin Katherine Crabtree, nephew Larry Pitts, son Jerry Townsend, daughters Jean (Alan) Purvis, Donna (Dave) Maier, Tammy (Michael) Newman, grandsons Alex Purvis and Daniel Newman, grandaughters Heather (Brent) Stickel, Amanda Maier, Miranda Eisen (fiance, Damon Acton), Amber Eisen, Laura Townsend and Gwen Townsend, great grandchildren Rome Valdes, Jude Acton and Emma Stickel. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30am on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd, Kettering, 45429. A service will be held at 12pm on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Kettering Assembly of God, 2250 E. Stroop Rd, Kettering, OH 45440, with final resting place at Davids Cemetery in Kettering, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kettering Assembly of God.
