ALESLAGLE, Henry, age 88, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Heartland of Kettering. He was born on April 6, 1926 in Dayton, OH to the late Russell and Dorothy Dearth.
Henry graduated from Fairmont High School. He proudly served in the US Navy as Water Tender 3rd Class and served on aircraft carriers during WWII, including the USS Langley, USS Princeton, and the USS Yellowstone (AD-27).
Henry was a Past Commander, life member, and a founding member of VFW Post #9927, member of American Legion #698, and life member of Amvets Post #69. He was an avid woodworker and golfer. Henry started Kettering Radiator in which he owned and operated the shop for 32 years.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Edward Shepler III, and sons, Timothy Wayne and Barry Lee Aleslagle. Henry is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Norma; children, Henry Brian Aleslagle of Kettering, OH and Cheryl (Edward, Jr.) Shepler of Ida, MI; grandchildren, Brian David Aleslagle, Jeffrey A Shepler; and great-grandchildren, Edward IV, Alison Paige, and Phoebe Shay Shepler.
Family will greet friends from 12-2 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home (2100 E Stroop Rd, Kettering). A funeral service will be held at 2pm the same day. Burial will follow at Beavertown Cemetery, Kettering.
