BURNS, Herbert W., age 88 of Kettering, passed away, Thursday, October 3, 2002. He was a 1932 graduate of Roosevelt H.S. and retired from the Olivetti Corp. in 1975 as a Service Manager. He was an avid hobbyist of model steam engines and cannons, and had won many awards for his craftsmanship. He was preceded in death by his step-son, Michael S. Parker. Survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary S. Burns; daughter, Virginia (Ginger) Lynn; 2 sisters, Ann Miller and Ruth Alwood; step-daughter, Janice M. Parker, all of Dayton; granddaughter, Laurie Peacock and her husband, Benny of Centerville; 2 great-grandchildren, Bryan and Mandy; nephew, Mike Alwood; 3 step-grandsons, Scott Diebert, Jason and Jeff Parker, and many friends. Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 7, 2002 at 10:00 AM at David's United Church of Christ, Rev. William Youngkin officiating. He was loved by many and will be missed by many.
