Herman J. Dr. (Doc) Bearzy

BEARZY, Herman J. Dr. (Doc) called home to his Savior on March 18, 2006 after 94 years of devotion to his family and friends. He was born July 21, 1911 in Lemont, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giovani Bearzy and Eugenia Seiga Bearzy and a grandson, Jeffrey Caudill. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Helen (Seres) Bearzy; 2 daughters, Evelyn Caudill and husband, Roy of Miamisburg, Beverly Faul and husband, Ronald of Kettering,; 4 grandchildren, Gayle Maxson, Plumas Lake, CA, James Caudill and wife, Illi of Coto de Caza, CA, Robert Beam, Thomas Beam and wife, Bridget of Kettering, and one step-granddaughter, Kelly Steinke and husband, Rich of Centerville; 7 great-grandchildren;2 nieces, Beverly Mucciarone and husband, Joe and Patti Lee Doyle, all of Mentor, OH; 1 nephew, John Maraney of VA. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, he became team physician at the West Point Academy. Moving to Dayton, OH in 1952, he was a pioneer in the development of the Physical Medicine Department for Miami Valley Hospital, where he helped numerous patients until his retirement in 1976. He was an active member of the Antioch Shrine, Scottish Rite, Millennium Lodge #779 F&AM and Fairmont Presbyterian Church before suffering a stroke in 1997. He received the President’s Award for Physician of the Year in Physical Medicine and one of his most honorable achievements was becoming a 33rd degree Mason. He loved spending his retirement days on the golf course or bowling with his friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, with Rev. Dr. Robert Wade officiating. Herman’s family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7:00 PM.
