Howard Feller

FELLER, H. Allan, 83, of Kettering, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017. Born in Akron, OH to Howard and Alice (Shanafelt) Feller, Allan graduated from Hughes High School and earned his Medical Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati. He served in the Army as a Medical Director at Fort Monroe in VA, earning the rank of Captain before his honorable discharge. Allan was the first nephrologist in Dayton, founded Renal Physicians, Inc., and worked at Miami Valley Hospital for 32 years, serving on the Board of Trustees and developing the Artificial Kidney Unit and kidney transplant programs. He established Life Connections of Western Ohio and served as Chairman of the Board. He was on the steering committee at Wright State Medical School and received the Teacher of the Year award at MVH. He was an endlessly loving, caring, and patient husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His hobbies included sailing, woodworking, and stamp collecting. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for nearly 50 years, serving on numerous Boards and helping run the middle school afterschool program. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Kay, children Karyn (Frank) Catrine, Laura (Mark) Ruetschle, Lisa (Eric) Stuckey, David (Leslie) Feller; grandchildren, Frank, Maryanna, and Kristy Catrine; Jennifer, Brittany, and Megan Ruetschle; Beth and Scott Stuckey; Hannah, Jack, and Ellie Feller; brother, Gene (Marjorie) Feller and many extended family and friends. A special thank you to the staff at Bethany Village for their compassionate care. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017, from 1:30-3:00pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Rd, Dayton, OH 45429, with a memorial service to follow. Burial will take place at Davids Cemetery the following day. In lieu of flowers please donate to Life Connections of Ohio, 40 Wyoming St, Dayton, OH 45409, or Christ United Methodist Church.
