Howard Lee Wey

October 5, 1897 — July 3, 2001

age 103 of Oakwood, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at Kettering Memorial Hospital. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut in October of 1897, the son of the late William Lei Wey and Eva (Stechert) Wey . Howard was a graduate of Lehigh University in 1920. For many years, he was employed as a Civil Engineer at WPAFB. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Mining Engineer in Kentucky and W. Virginia. Later, he was with the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Corps of Engineers, working throughout the eastern United States. Preceded in death by his wife, Minta Rader Wey and a sister, Elsie Lee Velasco. Survived by his children, James and Ann Wey of Kettering, Eva and James Henry of Apple Creek, OH, and Patricia Harrison of San Diego, CA; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; a brother, George Lee Wey of Oak Bluffs, MA; and a sister, Lillian Lee Allen of Trumbull, CT. Howard had another brother, William Lee, whereabouts unknown. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, in the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Burial in David's Cemetery. Reverend Carla Stengel officiating. The family will greet friends from 1-2:00 P.M., Monday, in the funeral home.
