Isabelle R. Mcdermid

MCDERMID, Isabelle Richards Peachy, age 98, Bethany Village, Centerville, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018. Peachy was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Cactus and Succulent Society of Miami Valley (where she served as President for 8 years), and volunteered at Cox Arboretum from 1981 to 1997. She graduated from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY with a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture in 1941. From 1969-1982, Peachy was a Math/Science teacher at Hithergreen Middle School, retiring from Centerville Schools in 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William L. McDermid; parents, Arthur L. and Eula G. Richards; son, William L McDermid II; four brothers and two sisters. Peachy is survived by her children; Jeanne M. (Woods R.) Brown, Mary M. (Steven) Swift, Gary R. McDermid; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth McDermid; 6 grandchildren; Woods R. (Lois) Brown, Karyn W. (Kenneth) Grubbs, Amy N. Swift, Andrew J. Swift, William L. McDermid III, and Brianne E. McDermid; and 3 great-grandchildren: Caty J., Clare R. and W. Reece Brown. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 5-7pm, at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Christ United Methodist Church with Pastor Barry DeShetler officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, NY. If desired, contributions in memory of Peachy may be made to The Shriners Burn Institute, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607.
