YOUNGEN, J. Richard, age 84, of Bethany Lutheran Village, died, Monday, July 5, 2004. He was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Oakwood, and was veteran of the United States Army Air Corp. Dick graduated from Muskingum College in 1941 and served with the Y.M.C.A. for 35 years in Canton, Zanesville, Oklahoma City and from 1966 to 1982 at the Dayton, Central Branch, downtown Y.M.C.A. He was a former member of the downtown Kiwanis and a volunteer at Kettering Medical Center for 16 years. Dick was preceded in death his wife, Marjorie Youngen in 1999 and three sisters, Kathryn Smith, Eunice Hadden and Julia Smith. He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Wayne) McCracken of Cambridge, OH; 2 sons, Theodore Richard (Pat) Youngen of Dayton and Steve (Sandra) Youngen of Olympia, WA; 9 grandchildren, Virginia (Joe) Fabian, Victoria (Clinton ) Parsons, Ethan McCracken, Leslie and Mark Bauer, Tracey Hunt and Laura, Ed and Heidi Anderson; great grandchild, Luke Fabian; and sister, Janice Morris of Canton. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 9, 2004 at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 155 E. Thruston Blvd., Oakwood with Pastor Gary Eichhorn officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial. In memory of Dick, contributions may be made to the Y.M.C.A. Camp Kern, 5291 St. Rte. 350, Oregonia, OH 45054 or to Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 155. E. Thruston Blvd., Oakwood, OH 45419.
