KING, Dr. Jack Elliot, age 72, of Kettering, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017. Dr. King was born on February 20, 1945 in Columbus, OH to Benjamin and Jane King. He graduated from Fairmont High School, and at The Ohio State University, he received early admittance to Dental School due to an exceptional undergraduate record. He was commissioned as a dental officer in the United States Navy in 1965.
After receiving his D.D.S., he proudly volunteered to serve with the Marines in Vietnam. He entered The Ohio State University Orthodontic Residency in 1971 and graduated with a Masters in Science in 1973. He then joined his father, Dr. Ben King, in private orthodontic practice. Jack believed his greatest blessing was to be married to his incredible wife and best friend, Susie. They enjoyed the wonderful adventures of life together, and with their family. For Sam, Jacklyn, and Ben, he was their hero. He was the perfect example of a husband, father, and friend. He was the kindest and best of men. Jack had a passion for golf and the wonderful people and experiences the game provided. He served as president of Moraine Country Club, was a member of Muirfield Village Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio and The Bears Club in Jupiter, Florida. Dr. King was also a member of multiple professional organizations. He had a love for Orthodontics and loved taking care of others.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Susan King; children, Dr. Samuel (Dr. Gwyn) King, Jacklyn King, and Benjamin (Lauren) King; grandchildren, Vivian, Jack, Samuel, and Theodore; siblings, Marilyn (Ted) Pope, Janet (Bob) Deschler, Nancy (Richard) Fidler, Bill (Jamie) King, and Ben King; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd., Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at The Church of The Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave., Centerville. Burial in Davids Cemetery.
