MEEKER, Jack E., age 83, of Centerville, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012. He was born April 13th, 1929 in Chillicothe (Ross County) Ohio. Jack was the son of the late Lora E. and Edith (Byers) Meeker.
Jack served his country in the Army Quartermaster 3850th Requirements and Distribution Group and was stationed for four year in Giesson Germany. His unit participated in the Berlin Airlift Operation delivering much needed supplies to the people of Berlin. Upon his discharge he returned to Mead Corporation where he retired after 43 years of service as Manager of Sales Service, White Paper Division.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Barbara (Perry); his father, mother, 2 sisters (Marie and Nina) and 2 brothers (Ronald and Lloyd).
Jack is survived by his son, Craig and his wife Joyce of Lexington, Kentucky; daughter, Karen and her husband Phil (Kelly) of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Amy Marshall of Kettering, Ohio, Beth Marshall of Miamisburg, Ohio, Jennifer Meeker of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jackson Meeker and wife Kerrilee (Rivers) of Patrick AFB, Florida; sister-in-law, Barbra Meeker of Federal Way, Washington; brother-in-law, Robert Jones of Columbus, Ohio; as well as an extended family of nieces and nephews.
Jack loved sports and excelled in many of them: basketball, football, volleyball, golf, bowling and swimming. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Sugar Valley Country Club for many years.
Barbara and Jack loved to travel and saw much of the United States, Australia, England, Scotland, France, Brussels, the Orkney Islands, the Caribbean, Austria and Germany.
Family will greet friends on Friday, August 17 from 6:00 8:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 1:00pm at David's Cemetery, Kettering, OH.
