SPOON, James K., age 83 of Centerville, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Dayton VA Medical Center. James proudly served his county in the US Army during WWII. He was a pharmacist and co-owner of the Peoples Drug Co. with Bryon Spoon, Jr. for 37 years, after which he was employed by Fidelity Prescriptions, the Medicine Shoppe and Health Springs Medical Group. James was a member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church, Dayton Gyro International, Miami Valley Pharmaceutical Assoc., Ohio State Pharmaceutical Assoc., Dayton Grand Lodge of Masons, Victory Chapter #210, Dayton Commandery #68 Knights Templar, Antioch Temple and a charter member of Far Hills High Twelve. Preceded in death by his parents, Byron C. Spoon, Sr. and Pauline English; and brother Byron Spoon, Jr. James is survived by his wife, Norma; daughters, Claudia (Gary) Cunningham of Waynesville, OH, Jan (Pat) Barnes of Findlay, OH, Kay (Tony) Huff of Eden Prairie, MN; three nieces; four nephews; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 1:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH. The family will greet friends from 11:00AM-1:00PM prior to the funeral. Burial in David’s Cemetery, Kettering, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairmont Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, 3705 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, OH 45429, or the charity of your choice.
