ADAMS James O. (Colonel). Born October 13, 1919, Jim passed away January 25, 2006. He served 34 years in the Army Air Corps, Air Force, and Indiana Air National Guard before retiring in 1979. He saw duty in the Asia-Pacific Theater in World War II, in the Korean War, and, while part of the 122d Tactical Fighter Wing, Indiana ANG in Fort Wayne, was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis of 1961-2. He was a production and contracting officer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio (1957-1972) for several missile programs and the B-52 and F-4 airplane procurement programs. He graduated from Purdue University in Civil and Mechanical Engineering. He married his sweetheart from Fort Wayne’s Northside High School, Ann Bartholomew, in 1947. Ann, his wife of 44 years, died in 1991. He was an avid bowler, golfer, bridge player and square dancer. He volunteered at the Dayton Senior Citizens Center for many years and headed up the volunteer Income Tax Preparation Services for the center. He volunteered at the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum and was a member of the Antioch Shrine of Dayton. He is survived by his three sons, Chris, Mark and Todd, their wives; six grandchildren; and brother, Norbert Adams.Memorial Services will be held Friday, February 9, 2007 at 3:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Family will receive frineds Friday at the funeral home following the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 182039, Dept. 013 Columbus, OH 43218-2039.
