James Robert (J.R.) Thompson

THOMPSON, James Robert, (J.R.) died Monday, November 18 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky, on 17 April 1926, the son of Myra Agnes Cross Thompson and Robert Leo Thompson. He married Helen Dees Harris and to this union was born one son, James Robert Thompson II, (Bob). He is survived by his wife Dees; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and his wife, Bonnie; two grandchildren, Corry and Jon; two sisters, Madeline Warren and Lee Gibson. J.R. proudly served his country in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force, retiring from the Air Force and from Civil Service. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church, Dayton. J.R. was the past presiding officer of Knollwood Lodge, 774, F Unity Chapter, 16, Royal Arch Masons; Reese Council, 9, Royal & Select Masons; Reed Commandery, 6, Knights Templar; Three Rivers Forest, 174, Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Herbert T. Leyland Council, 291, Allied Masonic Degrees; and the Mariner's Club of Dayton, and a Past Patron of Harvest Chapter, 564, Order of the Eastern Star. He was a Knight, York Cross of Honor; Past Grand Marshal, Grand Chapter, Royal Arch Masons in Ohio and Past Grand Chaplain, Grand Council, Royal & Select Masons in Ohio. J.R. was a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton; the AAONMS, Antioch Temple; Arabic Club of Dayton; Royal Order of Scotland; Irish Council, 67, Knight Masons; High Twelve Club; Dayton Shrine, 13, White Shrine of Jerusalem; Charity Court, 55, Order of the Amaranth. Funeral services will be he held at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville on Friday, November 22, at 5:00 PM. Masonic services will be held at 4:45 PM . Family will receive friends from 3-5:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Science Hill Cemetery, Science Hill, Kentucky, Saturday, November 23 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to support the Shriners' Hospital Fund, in care of Antioch Temple, 107 E. First St., Dayton, OH, 45402 or Community United Methodist Church, 339 Meyer Ave., Dayton, OH 45431.
