SUMMERS, James (Jim) 95, of Kettering, went to be the Lord on Aug. 16, 2012. Jim was born on July 17, 1917 in Dayton, OH to the late Frank and Carrie (Eck) Summers.
He was a 1936 graduate of Fairmont H.S. and served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army for the 411th training group during WWII. In 1974 Jim retired after 38 yrs as a Frigidaire maintenance supervisor over plant 3. He was a Scottish Rite Mason for 71 years and loyal member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Jim was a loving and devoted husband and dad who loved the fascination and beauty of life. As a clever man with many talents, Jim was an articulate craftsman who took pride in his work. His optimistic presence and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
Jim is preceded in death by daughter, Virginia (Summers) Greene, brother, Dale Summers, and sisters, Frances (Summers) Pifer and Margaret (Summers) Meckstroth. He is survived by wife, Dolores (Moore) Summers of 69 yrs, daughter, Beverly (Summers) Ochs, grandchildren, Bill, Joe and Sharon Ochs, Brent and Brady Greene, and Melany (Greene) Richards, son-in-law, Barry Greene, five great-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.
Family will greet friends from 9:00-11:00am on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at David's Mausoleum Chapel, 4600 Mad River Road, Kettering. A funeral service will be following at 11:00am also at David's Mausoleum Chapel with Pastors Stephen H. Kimpel and Roger Schalnat officiating. Burial in David's cemetery.
