of Dayton, died Sunday, March 11, 2001. She was a graduate of North Texas State University and taught school in San Leandro, CA and Dorothy Lane Elementary School. Jana was a current member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and previously a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Dayton Art Institute, Junior League, Junior Woman's Club, and the Dayton Country Club and volunteered for the Dayton Performing Arts. Jana's first love was volunteering for the Miami Valley Hospital where she was the first volunteer in the Emergency Trauma Center. Over 36 years, she generously volunteered 12,000 hours and received the volunteer of the year award in 1985. Jana was the youngest of 9 children with 2 surviving sisters. Survived by her husband of 45 years, Jack; a daughter, Minda Matthews of Cincinnati; a son, John David (Lori) Matthews of Dalton, GA; and numerous other loved ones. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal, 33 W. Dixon Ave., Dayton. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in St. Paul's Cloister.
