Jane Beatrice Brown

BROWN, Jane Beatrice (Brooks), age 66, of Dayton passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013. She graduated from Carrollton High School in 1965 and received her BSN from the University of Cincinnati in 1971. Jane was a pediatric nurse at University Hospital in Cincinnati. Her next ambition was to go to law school at the University of Cincinnati, but she elected to stay home and raise her growing family. Jane was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served on the Wright Memorial library Board. She was a Junior League of Dayton member and volunteered her time to teach literacy at local correctional facilities and organizations. Jane loved reading, traveling to new places, slot machining with her husband, quilting with her mother, attending and listening to Cincinnati Reds games with her children, baking with her grandchildren, and even in her last days, cruising one more time in her red convertible to Dairy Queen with her devoted husband, George. But more than anything, she enjoyed going to her favorite place for more than 30 years, Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, with her friends, family and book club. Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Carl R. and Ethel B. Brooks. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, George R. Brown, M.D; sister, Janet Brooks (Larry) Pitts; daughters, Rebecca (Sean) Newman and Rachel (Patrick) Brown; sons, Nathaniel Brown, Oliver (Keely) Brown, and Peter (Kristen) Brown; one granddaughter, Erin Newman; two grandsons, Alex Newman and Cole Brown; sister-in- law, Mary Johns (Brown); brother-in-law, Harry Brown; nephews, Dax and Devin Pitts, and Chris Brown; niece, Patty Lea (Brown); and many more friends and loved ones. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, November 7 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 8 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 141 S. Ludlow St., Dayton with Rev. Jeffrey Campbell officiating. The burial will take place on Saturday, November 9, at 3:00 pm at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Carrollton, Ohio. The family appreciates the care that Jane was given on the 5th floor Oncology Unit at Miami Valley Hospital.
