BLACKER, Jane Louise, “Janie”, age 47 of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on December 13, 2006 at Sherman Home, Hospice of the Valley, in Scottsdale, AZ. She fought a courageous 15 month battle with colon cancer at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, Envita Natural Medical Center and Mayo Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ. She was born May 5, 1959 in Dayton, OH. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1977. In 1981, Janie graduated from Miami University in Oxford, OH where she was a much loved member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and “Sweetheart of Sigma Nu”. After graduation, she began her working career at Dayton Power and Light Company. She spent the next 22 years with Continental Airlines (formerly People Express) where she was a valued and dedicated employee. She worked in Newark, NJ, Washington D.C. and most recently Jacksonville, FL. For the past nine years, Janie’s home has been Ponte Vedra Beach, a suburb of Jacksonville, where she enjoyed the warm sunshine, sandy beaches, and golf at TPC Sawgrass. One of her greatest joys was volunteering at various PGA events, as well as assisting in the TPC Pro Shop. She deeply treasured her family and the many friends she met through her work and travels around the world. Janie is survived by her parents, Neal and Elly Blacker of Dayton, OH; brother Chip of Xenia, OH; sister Betsy Burton and nephews Christopher and Ethan Burton of Columbus, OH; sister Nancy Tynes, brother-in-law Lin Tynes, nephew Andrew and niece Annie Tynes of Richmond, VA. Visitation will be held at Routsong Centerville Chapel, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH, on Thursday, December 21, 2006 from 5 until 8 P.M. The funeral service, conducted by Pastor Charlie McMahan of SouthBrook Christian Church, will be held at the same location on Friday, December 22, 2006 at 10 A.M. with burial immediately following at David’s Cemetery. In addition, a memorial service celebrating Janie’s life will take place in Jacksonville, FL at Redeemer Anglican Church on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 11 A.M.
