Janet Swartsel

April 23, 1913 — December 9, 2005

Janet Oelman Swartsel, 92, died December 8, 2005 after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter F. Oelman in 1979 and her second husband Richard Swartsel in 1988. Janet was a lifetime resident of Dayton and Oakwood. She was a graduate of Oakwood High School and Western College for Women. Janet was active in many civic affairs including the Red Cross, Junior League, Dayton Senior Center and the Widows Home. Janet was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oakwood where she served on the Vestry, was President of the Women’s Board and Directress of the Alter Guild. Janet is survived by a son, William Oelman (Sue) of Hinsdale, Illinois; daughter, Barbara Champion (Kay) of Houston, TX; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oelman Music Fund at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon Avenue, Dayton, OH 45419. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on January 7, 2006 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends in the Cloister after the service.
