Janiece White Corson

CORSON, Janiece W., age 85, of 10 Wilmington Place, Dayton, previously of Washington Township, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012, after a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Herbert F. Corson; by her parents, Willie and Allie White of Houston, Texas, by sisters Clairice Mann, Melba Carney and Gene King; and by brothers Bryan, Troy and Jerry White. Janiece is survived by her children, Larry and Rebecca Corson, Sandy Corson and Rick Corson; three grandchildren, Lyndsey, Amy and David; and by dear friend Debbie Corson, all of Dayton. Janiece was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, Texas in 1944. In Houston she met the love of her life, Herb Corson, an Air Force officer. They were married in 1948. When Herb left the service in 1950, they put down roots in his hometown of Dayton, and remained here for the rest of their lives. In addition to raising three children as a full-time homemaker, Janiece was Herb's partner in founding the Corson Amusement Company in 1950, Skateworld of Kettering in 1974, and Skateworld of Vandalia in 1976. All of their children and most of their grandchildren have worked at Skateworld during their careers. In addition to family and work, Janiece was a Cub Scout den mother, frequent school volunteer and poll worker. She and Herb spent much of their free time hosting friends at their cottage at Indian Lake and their winter home on Fort Myers Beach. Funeral service will be Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 7:00 PM, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. Family will greet friends prior to the service from 5:00-7:00PM. Private interment is at Miami Valley Memory Gardens. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Jim Periman and his son, Jimmy, who were daily caregivers to Herb and Janiece over the last two years, and who have become dear family friends. The family would also like to thank the staff and volunteers at Hospice of Dayton for their wonderful care.
