Jean Ann Williams

March 2, 1927 — May 29, 2010

WILLIAMS, Jean Ann (Maurer) age 83, of Vermilion, OH, passed away peacefully as a result of complications from Alzheimers Disease on Saturday, May 29, 2010. Jean was born on March 2, 1927, in Dayton, OH, at Miami Valley Hospital, to her parents Theodore Maurer and Mary Miranda Maurer. Jeans life was characterized by her service and dedication to her family, Church/Sunday School, Brownie and Girl Scout troops, and volunteer work with various groups. Jeans greatest love was searching out gently-used clothing for preparing layettes for the babies of Appalachia. She tirelessly scrubbed, mended and lovingly organized beautiful baby layettes and traveled to deliver them to the mothers and babies in greatest need. Whenever Jean saw a baby she would stop to marvel at the beauty of each child and to compliment the mother. Jean dedicated herself to motherhood and homemaking during her daughters early years and worked part-time outside of the home collecting accounts and processing insurance at two dental offices. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved sister Mary Lou Kilian, mother Mary (Miranda Maurer) Dils, father (Theodore Maurer), mother-in-law Reva Williams and brother-in-law David Williams. Jean is survived by her dedicated husband of 64 years, Joel E. Williams; daughter and son-in-law Kristi and Steve Hottinger of Huron, OH; daughter and son-in-law Judy and Glenn Gareis of Carmel, IN; granddaughters Andria Zimmerman of Chicago, IL and Danielle Zimmerman of McCordsville, IN; nephews Steve (Shan) Kilian of Dayton, OH, David (Patti) Kilian of Huntington Beach, CA and Paul Kilian of Chicago, IL. There will be no calling hours or visitation. A private family service and celebration of Jeans life will be held in Dayton, Ohio, with burial in the family plot at Davids Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Routsong Funeral Home, Dayton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Russellville Church of Christ, 144 S Columbus St, Russellville, OH 45168 or Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, 1300 West Conway Road, Harbor Springs, Michigan 49740.
