DAVIS, Jean A., age 77, of Centerville, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 after an extended battle with Parkinson's disease.
He was born January 3, 1934 in Putnam County, Ohio to Ardell and Freda Davis. After graduating from high school as valedictorian of his class, he entered Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration. He was employed by General Motors and became manager of the Systems and Programming Department of G.M. Dayton, manager of the Computer Operations Department G.M. Dayton and Financial Manager of Dayton and Detroit Computer Centers. After retiring from those positions, he was employed in the Computer Operations Department with Electronic Data Systems, from which he retired. He also served 2 years in the United States military.
He loved working in the yard and tending his roses, was a sports enthusiast, especially Ohio State University sporting events and enjoyed traveling all over the world with his wife, Pat. He volunteered at Hithergreen Senior Center and Bethany Village, was a past member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite, Oak Creek Lions Club, grounds manager for Deer Run Owner's Association and was a long time active member of St. George's Episcopal Church.
Jean is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; daughter, Erin (Justin) Romas; son, Jonathan; and granddaughters, Alsiha and Emily.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at St. George's Episcopal Church, 5520 Far Hills Ave., Kettering. Visitation will follow the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the St. Francis Memorial Garden at St. George's.
