KRITZER, Jean Marie, age 93, of Kettering, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 peacefully in her home. Jean was born on February 15, 1928 in Leeper, PA to the late John and Ann Brigham. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA in 1949. Jean was president of the Art Club, Glee Club, and English Club and a member of the basketball team for three years. She was co-illustrator for the Senior Yearbook and designed and painted a fresco for her senior thesis of "The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary”. Jean was selected in "Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges" and was admitted into Kappa Gamma Pi National Honor Society. She received the Mercyhurst Carpe Diem Award, a selection judged by faculty. Before her Jr. and High School teaching career,
Jean taught figure and fashion illustration at Mercyhurst and figure drawing at Marywood College in Scranton, PA, was a fashion illustrator for Trask's Department Store in Erie, PA. She taught school in PA and MI before teaching for 26 years in Kettering, OH. After retiring in 1987, Jean had her own free-lance "J.K. Artistry" for three years and was a member the "Dayton's Society of Painters and Sculptors". Jean was a devoted mother and wife whose schedule followed the athletic needs of a coach and four sons.
Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Bob Kritzer; beloved sons, Jack in 1975, Jim in 2011, and Tom in 2020; sister, Sally Miller. Jean is survived by son, Tim (Marianne) Kritzer; grandchildren, Katie-Beth (Zack) and Amber (Ray) Pinnock and Heather Wadsworth; and great-grandchildren Max, Rachel and Rayanna, Mathew Wadsworth Jr. and Darcy Riley Wadsworth; brother, John (Betty) Brigham; sister, Mary (Stewart) Stanley; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held 5PM on Wednesday, June 30 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E STROOP RD, KETTERING. Family will visit with friends following the service until 7PM. Inurnment in David's Cemetery.
