Jeanne Stewart Bok

BOK, Jeanne Stewart, 88, passed away on March 19, 2015. She was born in Columbus, OH on November 28, 1926, to Daniel and Nell Stewart. Jeanne graduated from the University of Dayton in 1950 where she served as a cheerleader and met a young football player, Art Bok, who would become her husband. She worked as a Supervisor of Operators for the phone company and was also a college recruiter for the phone company. Jeanne was a homemaker and a commissioned portrait painter. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Jonathan Dayton Chapter, Church of the Incarnation, Grandview Hospital Auxiliary Guild, Dayton Dance Group, Dayton Associated Fine Arts, Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors, the Dayton Art Institute, Catholic Social Services, The Stewart Society, and was heavily involved in genealogy. Jeanne founded the Dayton Figure Skating Club, was a former member of Troy Figure Skating Club and was a USFSA judge. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Arthur B. Bok, who died on December 17, 2014; a grandson, J. Matthew Carey, Jr., brother, Robert Stewart; and a brother-in-law, Donald Hudson. Jeanne is survived by 5 children, Arthur B. III "Chip" (Deb) of Akron, OH, Sharon B. Carey (Matt) of Louisville, KY, Daniel M. Bok of Denver, CO, Julie B. Johnson (Jeff) of Dublin, OH, and William B. Bok (Peggy) of Bellbrook, OH; her 18 grandchildren and great granddaughter; and a sister, Judy S. Hudson. Visitation will be held from 3:00pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 North Main St., Centerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00am at the Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave., Centerville officiated by Fr. John Bok, OFM. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the University of Dayton, 300 College Park, Dayton, OH 45469, the Franciscan Friars, 1615 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202, or to the Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park N, Dayton, OH 45405.
