Jeffrey Lynn Card

CARD, Jeffrey Lynn, age 53, of Dayton, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on August 12, 1961 in Jamestown, NY to Dennis and Nancy Card. Jeffrey graduated from Sherman High School and went on to achieve his Cosmetology Degree from JH Thompson Academies in Erie, PA. He was the owner and a Master Stylist of The Salon on Rahn and Day Spa which opened in 2013. Jeffrey spent numerous hours mentoring new cosmetologist upon entering the workforce. He had a profound love of horses and enjoyed showing and riding them. Jeffrey won numerous awards and was always willing to help others and give advice when it came to riding. Jeffrey was a member of AQHA and MVHSA. His favorite horse of all time was his beloved "T-Bone". Jeffrey also loved traveling, especially back home to Sherman, as well as to Vegas where he would spend many hours playing the "Sex and The City" penny slot. He was known as an "all in" type of person and never approached anything half way. Jeffrey was a people person who never met a stranger. He had a huge heart and thoroughly enjoyed helping his community. During this past year the salon held numerous fundraisers for various charities. He was quick witted and always had a clever comeback that made everyone laugh. Jeffrey was a very giving, loyal, and caring person and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his best friend and life partner, Jim Olson. Jeffrey is also survived by his parents; brothers, Stephen (Evie) Card and Christopher (Judy) Card; nephews, Cory, Chad, Jake, and Stevie; and a multitude of loving friends and the staff at The Salon on Rahn and Day Spa. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd., Kettering. Jeffrey's loved ones would like to thank everyone who showed their love and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the newly established Jeffrey Card Scholarship to be awarded yearly to a new student entering the Cosmetology Field.
