It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jennie Bowling, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, and dear friend to many. Jennie departed this world on February 21, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jennie was born on September 7, 1965, to the late Richard and Donna (nee Focht) Westfall, in Dayton, OH. She grew up in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School, class of 1983. Throughout her life Jennie was always a passionate learner and educator; she proudly earned her B.S. in Education, and later her Master’s in Education, from Miami University (graduating Cum Laude). While at Miami she met and later married the love of her life Randy Bowling, forming a Miami Merger. Following Randy’s first assignment in California the young family moved all across the US before settling in the Dayton area, to be closer to family.
Jennie, who fostered a love for knitting for many years, was incredibly excited and proud to be able to purchase the Wooly Bully Yarn Co (Springboro, OH) in 2021. After spending so much time at the shop as both a teacher and employee of nearly 15 years, it was only natural for her to take over the reins, and the store flourished during her time as owner. Beyond her professional achievements, Jennie's greatest source of pride and joy was her role as a loving wife to Randell, a devoted mother to her daughters, Alyssa Bowling and Bethany Bowling, and son, Colton Bowling (Lily Hochstetler), and a supportive sister to her brother Rick Westfall (Michelle) and sister Amy Westfall (Jason Butts).
Family meant everything to Jennie, and she shared a special bond with her siblings, Rick and Amy. They stood by each other through thick and thin after the passing of their parents, Richard and Donna Westfall, creating a foundation of love and support that defined their relationship. Jennie brought love, warmth, and compassion to the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her smile and caring heart left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Jennie's zest for life was contagious, and her dedication to her family and friends was unwavering.
In addition to her immediate family and siblings, Jennie is survived by numerous friends and colleagues, all of whom will deeply miss her presence, wisdom, and love.
The family would like to thank the staff at The James Cancer Center and OSU Wexner Medical Center for all the compassionate care they provided to Jennie and her family.
The family will greet friends from 10-1pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH 45429, with a funeral service to celebrate Jennie's life to be held following at 1pm. A livestream will be available via Routsong's YouTube Channel. Burial at David’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause that reflects Jennie's caring spirit.
May Jennie Bowling rest in eternal peace, her love and legacy living on in the hearts of her beloved family, siblings, and all those whose lives she touched.
