It is with deep sadness that the family of Joan Cameron Butler announces her passing Sunday morning, September 9th at Kettering Memorial Hospital. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and wit that enriched the lives of everyone she knew. Joan was born December 6, 1929 in San Mateo, California. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay area of Hillsborough and graduated from San Jose State. She had one brother, Ross ''Spike'' Bley of Sand Point, Idaho. In 1953 she was married to Robert Hutton and moved to Prairie Village, Kansas near Kansas City where she had three children, Ross, Nancy and Kathy. It was in 1968 that Joan moved to Centerville, Ohio near Dayton. She worked at Elder Beerman's for more than 15 years where she met many of her dearest friends that became her ''other family''. She excelled in sales due to her immediate rapport with people. Joan never met a stranger. From 1985 to the present Joan worked at Eliza Doolittle's, sharing her love of clothes and people. She was also able to travel extensively over the past 10 years, which was a particular joy to Joan. There are no words to express the loss her family and many friends will feel in her no longer being with us. She was our sunshine. Joan was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She chose to stay positive and live life to the fullest regardless of the challenges along the way. We will miss that wonderful smiling face, her supportive phone calls and laughing at her antics. In addition to her large family of friends, Joan leaves behind two daughters, Nancy Hutton Bishop of London, England; Kathleen Hutton Boyd of Overland Park, Kansas, as well as four grandchildren and one great-grandson. She also leaves Ralph Brinkman of Centerville, her dear companion of more than 10 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jean & Ross Bley, her son, William Ross Hutton and her brother Ross Cameron Bley. A memorial to celebrate Joan's life will be held at Normandy United Methodist Church at Alexander Bellbrook Road in Centerville on Saturday, September 29, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. A reception will immediately follow at her home in Centerville. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to the American Cancer Society, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the Alzheimers Foundation.
