Joan Mae Brown

BROWN, Joan Mae, age 85 of Kettering, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011. Joan graduated from Stivers High School in 1944 and Denison University in 1948. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Dayton, the Order of the Eastern Star and Phi Beta Kappa. Joan began her career as a math teacher and later became a homemaker. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her 10 grandkids, and traveling the world. Joan was a loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 yrs, David E. Brown, Jr. and sister, Marjorie Downie. Joan is survived by her son, Michael Brown, wife Jan and their children, Gregory, Meghan, Peter and Nathaniel Brown; daughter Becky Bohardt, husband Mark and their children, Kristin (Joe) Shuster, Andrew and Matthew Bohardt; son, Scott Brown, wife Lisa and their children, Amanda, Jessica and Sarah Brown; a large, loving family and many wonderful friends. The family would like to thank all the members of Bethany Village and the Hospice of Dayton for all their help and support. Family will greet friends on Monday, June 13, 2011 from 6:00-8:00PM at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 81 N Main St, Centerville. Funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, June 14 at First Lutheran Church, 138 West 1st St, Dayton, OH with Pastor David Matevia officiating. Burial in David's Cemetery, Kettering, OH.
