Joan Marie Albon

ALBON, Joan Marie (nee:Carr), age 79, of Washington Twp., Ohio, formerly of St. Catharines, Ontario passed away on Thursday February 9th after a long illness. Before moving to Ohio, she and her family lived in Ontario, Quebec, Michigan and Illinois. Joan was a devout Catholic who was always involved with her church. Joan was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Always thoughtful, considerate, kind and caring, Joan will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Joan's family was always her priority. She loved attending her grandchildren's functions and traveling with them. Joan enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, birding, curling, bowling and her investment club. Christmas was a special time for Joan, and her family will always remember the traditions she made and the joy she found in the season. Preceded in death by her parents, Wingrave and Hilda Carr; brother, Donald Carr, and mother-in-law, Martha Albon all of St Catharines. Joan is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Jim Albon; children, Dianne M. (Michael) Amalfitano of Mansfield, Ohio, Darrell J. (Amy) Albon of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Timothy, Katharine, Theresa, Christopher, Caroline, Cecelia, Maria, Corinne; brother, Gary (Jackie) Carr, Larry (Sue) Graham, Pat (Shirley) Hughes all of St. Catharines, and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday February 18 2012 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, Ohio with a reception to follow. Mass at Star of the Sea Church will be held on May 26, 2012 at 11:00am.Inurnment at St. John's Cemetery in St. Catharines will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton OH 45420.
