KERNAN, JoAnne Mary Sebert, 85, of Washington Township passed away on Sunday February 12, 2017. JoAnne was born in Norwood, Ohio on April 21, 1931 to Arthur and Ruth (Sweeney) Sebert. She graduated from Regina Hugh High School in Norwood, Ohio in 1950. She entered the St. Elizabeth Hospital Nursing School, graduating in 1953. Jo worked in many phases of nursing and many organizations including four different Dayton area Hospitals and a number of various Doctor's offices. Jo loved her profession and was dedicated to it thoroughly for some forty-seven years 1953-2000. She never accepted a position unless she could give her proper attention to her children and to her patients. JoAnne loved her grandchildren and enjoyed attending many of their games. She also loved to dance and spend time each week playing her favorite music from the 1930's, 40's and 50's on her baby grand. JoAnne is preceded in death by her parents and sister Betty, and by her beautiful granddaughter, and namesake, JoJo Culp. Jo is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jack Kernan, six children: Laura (Charlie) Heath, John (Beth) Kernan, Dr. Brian (Jeanne) Kernan, Madeline (Dave) Culp, Susan Williams and Tim (Jill) Kernan, and 21 loving grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 10:30am, at The Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave, Centerville, with the burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Brighton Gardens of Washington Twp. for their love and care of JoAnne. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Miami Valley Chapter, 31 W. Whipp Road, Dayton, OH 45459.
