DAVIS, John B., age 84, of Oakwood, died Saturday, January 17, 2004. John was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior and VFW Post 9927. He worked as Fulfillment Manager for Newsweek magazine and was a small-business owner in Dayton. He also served as a student-van driver for the Oakwood Public Schools. John was a combat veteran of the US Army Air Corps, serving in the Pacific Theater with the 43rd Bomb Group, 5th Army Air Force during WWII. Preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Kathleen, he is survived by three sons, John Jr. and his wife MaryAnn, of Newton, PA, Peter and his wife Anne, of Oakwood, and David of Johannesburg, South Africa; a daughter, Nancy Davis of Oakwood; three grandchildren, John, Benjamin and Kathleen, all of Oakwood; a niece, Pamela Street of Martha’s Vineyard, MA; and a nephew, the Honorable Anthony A. Schall of Chevy Chase, MD. Family will welcome friends on Thursday, January 22, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave., at Irving. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 23 at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 155 E. Thruston Blvd., Oakwood with the Rev. Gary Eichhorn officiating. Private interment at Woodland Cemetery will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 155, E. Thruston Blvd., Oakwood, OH 45419.
