GIBSON, John C., 76, of Bellbrook, was called home July 6th, 2018, with his family by his side, after a short battle with Lymphoma. He was raised by his late grandparents Henry Hagan and Anna Elizabeth Gibson, who he lovingly referred to as Mom and Dad throughout his life. He worked at Jorgensen Steel in Dayton, OH, retiring after 28 years of service.
In a world where meaningful, long-term relationships can be difficult to find, John had the unique ability to not only maintain lifelong friendships, but continually build new ones throughout his life as well. As a testament to the man he was, John passed encompassed in the loving thoughts and prayers of family and friends from across the country.
An avid outdoorsman, John loved the peacefulness of the outdoors. Whether hunting, camping, or fishing, John enjoyed traveling across North America to take in new sights, challenges and experiences. As a student of history, John also loved traveling the world while visiting his daughter throughout Europe and taking Oldies Music Cruises throughout the Caribbean with his wife.
He is preceded in death by his brother Davey Turner. John is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Zandra; daughters, Lisa (Carey) Shoff and Angie (Dan) Riviello-Coletta; grandchildren, Erika (Chris) Klan, Zerak(Nicole Anderson) Shoff, Bianca(Chris White) Riviello, Dominic Riviello, and Josh Coletta; and soon to be a great grandson Baby Klan. He is also survived by his nieces, Angie Adkins, Melanie Volk, and Sheila Lock and nephews, Todd Templin, Rob Turner, Zach Gates and Wes Turner. John held dear and was also cherished by so many other family members and friends as well.
A Celebration of Johns life will be held from 4-6pm on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Routsong Funeral Home 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering 45429, with a service to follow at 6pm.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff on the 9th floor ICU at Miami Valley Hospital who provided exceptional care to John during his fight. Although there are so many who contributed to his care, we would like to specifically recognize Dr. Chambers, Jeremy, Cassey, and Ashley. We would also like to thank the caring staff at Hospice of Dayton. The family asks that you please consider in lieu of flowers donating to SICSA Pet Adoption www.sicsa.org or Hospice of Dayton www.hospiceofdayton.org
