OPALEK, John Charles, age 87 of Xenia, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose Gregus Opalek and Fred Opalek, and a sister, Irene Repko. He is survived by his wife, Mary, a brother Joseph Opalek, his sister Rosemary Rothenberger, a stepdaughter, Anne Krach (David Krach), and a step- granddaughter, Sarah Krach.
He was a member of Saint Brigid Catholic Church. He received his Ph.D: from the Gregorian University, Rome in 1962, was Director of Philosophical Studies, Sacred Heart Seminary, Shelby, Ohio, and a faculty member of the University of Dayton. His expertise was exploring the metaphysical experience of being especially in the philosophy of Louis Lavelle.
He also worked in counseling at the Montgomery County Children Services Board, Good Samaritan Hospital, and the Mansfield State Reformatory, Mansfield, Ohio.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. Family will greet friends following the service until 4:00pm at the funeral home.
