JOHNSON, John D., age 80, of Dayton, passed away, Saturday, September 4, 2004. John was born in Dayton November 10, 1923. He moved to Coldwater, OH for 13 years, then moving to Celina, OH than back to Dayton. John enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1942. He served in China as a crew member on B24’s as a radio operator, gunner and was discharged in October 1945. He moved to Honolulu in 1946. John was then recalled to active service during the Korean War. He married Alyce on January 10, 1948. John retired from the USAF January 1, 1969 at Patrick Air Force Base in FL. John was a member of the Arlington Heights Masonic Lodge #1184, VFW Post #9927, and the American Legion Post #598. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alyce; and sister, Eileen Schindler. John is survived by his step-daughter, Conny Tucker; grandchildren, Kelly Raney, Jeff Tucker, and Tracy Tucker; nephew, Eric Schindler; niece, Niki Williams. A memorial service will be held, Friday, September 10, at 10:00 AM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, with Rev. Darlene Hensley officiating.
