HEISEL, John E., age 91, of Washington Township passed away Monday, November 24, 2008 at his home. John was born and raised in Mt. Healthy, OH. He served as Major and Squadron Commander in Army Airways Communication Systems during WWII and the CBI Campaign. He received his BA from Miami University, Oxford, OH and was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. John retired in the 1980's from GE where he was a Manufacturing Engineer and Contract Negotiator Aircraft Engines Division. He was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling. John was preceded in death by his wife Vella "Cotton" Heisel and his siblings and parents. John is survived by his three children, John Gregory of Beavercreek, OH, Diane Watkins of Burlington, KY and Stephen (Deb) of Upper Marlboro, MD, three granddaughters, Brooke, Kristi and Julie Watkins; brother-in-law, Lee Spade, Columbus, OH and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, Friday, November 28, 2008 from 5-7:00PM, with a funeral service at 7PM. Prayers will be held at 1PM on Saturday, November 29 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Congregation, 1553 Kinney Ave., Cincinnati. Burial to follow in Arlington Memorial Gardens, Mt. Healthy. Memorial contributions may be made to Epiphany Lutheran Church, 6430 Far Hills Avenue, Centerville, OH 45459. Condolences may be sent to the family via the website at www.routsong.com.
