John Eubel, age 88 of Fairborn, passed away September 13, 2024. This date is noteworthy as it marked the 66th wedding anniversary of he and his coveted wife, Chris.
He was born November 25, 1935 in Troy, Ohio, the son of the late Carl and Mary Ethel (Mohr) Eubel. Graduated from Tippecanoe High School. Attended The Ohio State University and graduated from the College of Optometry. He was a member of the Delta Upsilon and Epsilon Psi Epsilon Optometric Fraternity. He held several offices in the fraternity including being president. He was a member of the OSU marching band and also lettered on the OSU track team as a shot putter.
After graduation from OSU, he spent a year practicing optometry in Defiance, Ohio and then moved to Fairborn to join the practice of Dr. Roger Boyd at the Vision Center. They were joined by Drs. Jerry Neely, Steve Shroder and Betsy Snyder (Dr. Neely’s daughter). He practiced in this office for 40 years. He met and married his wife Betty (Chris) Christman while in college. They have two children, Ronald Eubel (Melinda) of Centerville, OH and Lori (Dean) Weemhoff of Chagrin Falls, OH. Grandchildren: Samantha & Christopher (Kimmie) Eubel, Morgan (Ryan) Scott, Cassie Scott (great granddaughter) & Bradley (Natasha) Weemhoff.
John loved to garden and build furniture along with playing golf, tennis and fishing. He frequently served as a “lugger” (not advice giving caddie) for his son, Ron, at golf tournaments. “Papa” wrote and directed annual Christmas plays that were performed by the grandchildren. He also spent many hours teaching tennis to daughter, Lori and many youths from the community. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elise Bair, brother, Carl J. Eubel. John is survived by, sister-in-law, Pearl Eubel and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Dr. John Eubel, to the Greene County Community Foundation Youth Sports Fund, 941 Greene Street, Xenia, OH 45385 or Hospice of Dayton Foundation, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.

Services will be at First Presbyterian Church (1130 Highview Dr., Fairborn) on September 29th @ 3:00 P.M. Fellowship and food at the church following service.
